Action star Samuel L. Jackson is collaborating once again with his Shaft director Tim Story on the film Man of War, a western action thriller in which Jackson seeks to protect his town from a corrupt tycoon, according to Deadline.
The film, directed by Story and written by Sheldon Turner (X-Men: First Class), features Jackson as “a recently retired and highly respected general who returns to his hometown in rural Georgia following the death of his wife, only to discover it plagued by corruption, gentrification, and racism. He will use his battle-honed strategies and combat skills to wage a fierce battle against the town and the billionaire taking advantage of it.”
Jackson and Story previously collaborated on the 2019 sequel Shaft, where Jackson reprised his role from the 2000 film, alongside Jesse T. Usher as Shaft’s son and original Shaft actor Richard Roundtree as Shaft Sr. Story's filmography includes Marvel’s Fantastic Four and its sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer, as well as Kevin Hart’s Ride Along series. His upcoming projects are The Pickup with Eddie Murphy and 72 Hours, where he will team up again with Hart.
Jackson continues to be one of the most sought-after actors, with multiple films in various production stages. He is famed for many legendary roles, with one of his most recent being MCU super spy Nick Fury, which he last portrayed in The Marvels. With the recent announcement of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday and more announcements expected, it remains to be seen if Jackson will return to the Marvel franchise for future Avengers films.
