House of the Dragon adds new cast members for its third season.

With the production of the third season of House of the Dragon underway, HBO has revealed additional casting updates as the Targaryen civil war, commonly referred to as the Dance of the Dragons, intensifies.

Joining the cast this season are Tom Cullen (The Gold), Joplin Sibtain (Andor), and Barry Sloane (The Bay), who will team up with other newcomers Tommy Flanagan, Dan Fogler, and James Norton in this Game of Thrones prequel.

Cullen will portray Ser Luthor Largent, the captain of the City Watch in King's Landing, who remains loyal to Prince Daemon. Sibtain will take on the role of Ser ‘Bold’ Jon Roxton, a knight fighting for the Greens, while Sloane will play Ser Adrian Redfort, a member of Rhaenyra’s Queensguard.

With the Targaryen civil war fully underway at the end of the second season, viewers can expect to see many more characters, conflicts, and battles between the two families as the war continues to unfold. We will have to wait for further news about additional cast members now that filming for season three has commenced.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s "Fire & Blood," the series takes place 200 years prior to the events of "Game of Thrones" and focuses on House Targaryen. Following King Aegon II’s coronation and the death of Queen Rhaenyra’s son, House Targaryen is split into two factions. Aegon II rules from the Iron Throne in King's Landing, backed by Alicent and the Green Council, and protected by the largest dragon in Westeros. Meanwhile, from her exile on Dragonstone, Queen Rhaenyra and her Black Council strategize their next steps. The looming civil war sees both sides vying for support from the great houses of Westeros, ultimately building up their armies—and their dragons.

The cast for Season 2 includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Matthew Needham, Sonoya Mizuno, Tom Glynn-Carney, Ewan Mitchell, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, and Jefferson Hall. Other cast members for Season Two are Abubakar Salim, Gayle Rankin, Freddie Fox, Simon Russell Beale, Clinton Liberty, Jamie Kenna, Kieran Bew, Tom Bennett, Tom Taylor, and Vincent Regan.
