Kit Connor, Will Poulter, and Manu Ríos are set to star in the medieval zombie horror film Rapture.

      Monks Vs. Zombies!? Count us in! Announced as a hot commodity for sale at Cannes, Deadline revealed a new horror film featuring some of Hollywood's biggest stars. Will Poulter (Midsommar), Kit Connor (Heartstopper), and Manu Ríos (Elite) are all set to star in Rapture, a film categorized as “medieval zombie horror.” HanWay Films will be introducing this project at the Cannes market.

      Taking place in Medieval England in 1348, the plot centers around Lansley Abbey, a secluded stone monastery in Yorkshire, home to ten monks dedicated to a life of strict routine and devotion. Their fragile peace is shattered by the arrival of a messenger who brings disturbing news from the outside world and soon exhibits signs of a mysterious illness. A deadly plague is sweeping through the land, initially presenting as a hemorrhagic fever that transforms victims into “revenants” — restless, undead creatures. As the infection approaches, Lansley Abbey turns into a battleground: desperate outsiders seek refuge while the infected threaten to breach its defenses. The monks face a moral crisis — split between those who feel compelled to care for the sick and those intent on safeguarding the monastery's centuries-old knowledge. As death reigns, the brothers reveal their capacity for remarkable acts of selflessness as well as cruel betrayal, prompting them to confront the fundamental question: what does it means to be human?

      Rapture signifies the feature directorial debut of playwright and director Jordan Tannahill. Producers include Elevation Pictures (Infinity Pool), 2AM (Past Lives), and Brookstreet Pictures (The Brutalist). Filming is expected to commence later this year in Hungary.
