The creators of Big Mouth are reuniting with Netflix for a new series titled Mating Season.
In anticipation of the eighth and final season of Big Mouth, Netflix has revealed it will collaborate with the show's Emmy-nominated creators on a new adult animated comedy series titled Mating Season, which replaces teens with anthropomorphic animals.
The new series, crafted by Mark Levin, Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg, and Nick Kroll – also known as Brutus Pink – will feature a range of characters including bears, raccoons, deer, and foxes, as they explore themes of love, sexual relationships, and the universal quest for companionship.
“Big Mouth shattered boundaries in the realm of adult animation with its blend of heart, humor, and sheer chaos — expertly capturing the awkwardness of adolescence and transforming it into something relatable and profoundly human,” stated John Derderian, Vice President of Animation Series at Netflix. “Collaborating with Nick Kroll and the brilliant team at Brutus Pink over eight seasons has been an epic journey. Now, with Mating Season, they aim to infuse that same audacious and comedic creativity into the animal world. We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter together.”
“After eight amazing seasons focused on growing up, we're eager to explore stories about actual adults,” remarked Brutus Pink, “who just happen to be animals. And also happen to be cartoons.”
Mating Season will be available soon on Netflix, while the concluding season of Big Mouth is set to debut on May 23rd.
