Gal Gadot and Matthias Schoenaerts sign on for the WWII drama Ruin.
Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard) are set to headline the cast of Ruin, a World War II drama directed by Niki Caro, known for The Mother. The screenplay, penned by Kaz and Ryan Firpo, is "set in the devastated landscape of post-WWII Germany, following a recently liberated camp prisoner (Gadot) who is compelled to forge an unexpected alliance with a German soldier (Schoenaerts) as they seek revenge against a Nazi SS squad."
MadRiver Pictures will handle production, with Marc Butan producing alongside Gadot and Jaron Varsano through their company, Pilot Wave Motion Pictures. The Firpos will serve as executive producers, joined by Mary Aloe and Gillian Hormel for Aloe Entertainment and Ludascript, respectively.
Gadot was recently featured in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White, while Schoenaerts is set to appear in this summer’s The Old Guard 2 on Netflix. The two actors also share ties to DC films; Gadot portrayed Wonder Woman in the character's two standalone films and other DC projects, while Schoenaerts is currently shooting Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in DC Studios' new cinematic universe.
