Seth Rogen's The Studio has been renewed for a second season on Apple TV+.
Apple TV+ has officially renewed its new comedy series, The Studio, for a second season.
Starring Seth Rogen as the new head of a Hollywood studio, The Studio follows his character as he attempts to discover the next big blockbuster while attracting top talent. Created by Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez, the show premiered in March, with its first season finale released today (May 7th).
“We’re excited to announce a second season of ‘The Studio,’” stated Rogen and Goldberg. “We look forward to incorporating the experiences from season one into the next season, and we have plans to continue this for ten more seasons. Additionally, we’re eager to keep our industry friends and colleagues guessing when their own stories might appear on Apple TV+.”
Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s head of programming, praised the show: “Seth, Evan, the entire creative team, and the cast of ‘The Studio’ have created a remarkable show, and it's been amazing to see the conversation grow with each episode. We’re eager to see the direction Matt Remick takes Continental Studios in the second season and hope for his sake that the ‘Kool-Aid’ movie performs well at the box office.”
In The Studio, Seth Rogen portrays Matt, the newly appointed head of Continental Studios, a movie studio facing challenges in keeping films alive and relevant. Matt and his team of feuding executives confront their insecurities while navigating narcissistic artists and demanding corporate overseers in their quest to create great films. Donning power suits that conceal their underlying panic, every party, set visit, casting choice, marketing meeting, and award show offers them the chance for dazzling success or career-ruining failure. Matt, a devoted movie lover, finds this role to be his lifelong dream, though it could ultimately lead to his downfall.
The Studio is brought to life by creators Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory (White House Plumbers), alongside Rogen, his frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg, and Frida Perez. The series features an impressive cast including Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, Chase Sui Wonders, Bryan Cranston, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Dewayne Perkins, with cameo appearances from Greta Lee, Martin Scorsese, Zoë Kravitz, Olivia Wilde, and others.
