Maika Monroe is set to join the cast of Zachary Wigon's Victorian Psycho.

Zachary Wigon’s Victorian Psycho has found its lead actress. Maika Monroe (Longlegs) has been cast as a murderous governess in the film, joining Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho). Monroe takes on the role that Margaret Qualley from The Substance was previously considered for.

This film is based on the bestselling novel by Virginia Feito, who also writes the screenplay. Dan Kagan will produce the film, with Nick Shumaker, Bard Dorros, and Virginia Feito serving as executive producers.

Set in 1858, the narrative focuses on a governess named Winifred Notty, who conceals her psychopathic inclinations while starting her job at a secluded gothic manor. As she cares for the children, staff members mysteriously begin to vanish, leading the estate’s owners to question, albeit too late, whether their new governess is mixing a touch of arsenic with her sweetness.

“Maika’s powerful screen presence has consistently impressed me throughout her history of intricate performances,” Wigon said in a statement. “I’m absolutely excited for her to bring her distinctive approach to psychological character study to the intriguingly strange Winifred Notty.”
