HBO's Harry Potter television series has announced its new cast members for Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
After a global open casting call that attracted over 30,000 young applicants, HBO has announced the three stars for its Harry Potter TV series: Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton will portray Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger in the forthcoming adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s cherished book series.
“After an incredible search guided by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are thrilled to reveal that we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron,” said showrunner Francesca Gardiner along with director and executive producer Mark Mylod. “The talent of these three remarkable actors is truly impressive, and we cannot wait for audiences to see their chemistry onscreen. We extend our gratitude to the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It has been a genuine pleasure to uncover the vast pool of young talent available.”
The young actors will step into roles previously made iconic by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson in Warner Bros.’ immensely successful film series. They will also be joined by the previously announced cast members John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
The Harry Potter TV series aims to adapt each of J.K. Rowling’s seven books into its own season, with filming for the first season expected to begin this summer. Initially, a 2026 premiere was anticipated, although it is currently uncertain if that will shift to 2027.
