Jacob Tremblay, Shailene Woodley, Annabelle Wallis, and Russell Crowe are all cast for the Netflix film about the Unabomber.
Netflix has revealed that Jacob Tremblay, Shailene Woodley, Annabelle Wallis, and Russell Crowe will star in Unabom, a thriller based on the true story of domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski.
According to a report from Deadline, Tremblay (The Life of Chuck) will portray the notorious bomber, who, after graduating as a brilliant student from Harvard, orchestrated a seventeen-year campaign of terror from 1978 to 1995, resulting in three deaths and 23 injuries.
Russell Crowe (The Pope’s Exorcist) will portray Professor Henry Murray, who conducted controversial experiments on Kaczynski, while Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders) will play Christiana Morgan, Professor Murray’s academic partner. Shailene Woodley is set to portray FBI agent Joanne Miller, who is in charge of the manhunt for the bomber.
Unabom originated from a spec script by Sam Chalsen and Nelson Greaves (TV’s Sleepy Hollow) and will be directed by Janus Metz (Andor). He explained to Netflix’s TUDUM that “Unabom is a story about a young man who increasingly feels alienated by society and resorts to violence for revenge,” noting that “We will alternate between two timelines, broadly: the development of the Unabomber and his capture.”
This will be the second notable project Netflix has produced about Ted Kaczynski, following the critically acclaimed series Manhunt: Unabomber, which starred Sam Worthington and Paul Bettany in 2017.
