Gemma Chan will join Jennifer Garner in Peacock's upcoming drama, The Five-Star Weekend, in a regular role. Chan will appear alongside Garner, Regina Hall, and Chloë Sevigny. In this adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand's novel, she will portray Gigi Ling, with Bekah Brunstetter from This Is Us serving as the writer.
The Five-Star Weekend follows Hollis Shaw (Garner), a well-known food influencer celebrated for her delectable recipes, refined taste, and kind nature, who experiences a profound loss. Struggling to cope, this tragedy reveals the vulnerabilities in Hollis’s seemingly flawless life, including her troubled marriage, complex relationship with her daughter, and her increasing need for validation from her followers.
To navigate her grief and rediscover herself, Hollis decides to host a weekend retreat at her Nantucket home with three friends from various stages of her life: her childhood, her 20s, her 30s, and an unexpected fifth guest. Set against a stunning coastal setting, they will grow in ways they never anticipated as limits are tested and hidden truths come to light.
Brunstetter will write and executive produce in collaboration with Beth Schacter. Garner is also among the executive producers, alongside Sue Naegle and Ali Krug from Dinner Party Productions.
