James Gunn has confirmed that a reboot of Wonder Woman is currently in the writing stage.

Have we all had sufficient time to move on from the Gal Gadot era of Wonder Woman? James Gunn certainly hopes so, as he is set to begin developing a new film.

As the head of DC Studios and the director launching this new phase of DC films with this year's Superman, Gunn is involved in all studio activities, including overseeing upcoming projects. Among these is a fresh take on Wonder Woman, with a new film currently in the works featuring the Warrior Princess of Themyscira.

While promoting Superman in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, James Gunn confirmed that a new Wonder Woman movie is officially in development. "We're working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman's being written right now," the filmmaker stated.

Gunn also mentioned that "Wonder Woman's a separate thing" from the already announced Paradise Lost series, which is “slow moving, but it’s moving.” Introduced in 2023, Paradise Lost explores “the genesis and political intrigue of an island of all women,” according to the show's official description.

This represents the second attempt to bring Wonder Woman to the big screen, following Gal Gadot’s portrayal in the DC Extended Universe, which began with her debut in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She subsequently starred in her 2017 solo film, which grossed $823 million globally, as well as a divisive sequel, Wonder Woman 1984. Additionally, she appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods, and The Flash.

At this time, there is no information regarding any writer, director, or cast associated with the new Wonder Woman film, but we will keep you updated. Meanwhile, alongside Gunn's Superman, The Flash director Andy Muschietti is set to complete the Trinity by introducing the new DCU’s Dark Knight in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
