Exclusive Trailer for To Kill a Wolf Reinterprets a Timeless Fairy Tale for Today’s Audience

Receiving accolades from a festival circuit that featured the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Film Fest Knox, Austin Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and others, Kelsey Taylor's directorial debut, *To Kill a Wolf*, delves into the theme of teenage sexual grooming through a contemporary retelling of Red Riding Hood. The film follows Dani (Maddison Brown) and The Woodsman (Ivan Martin) as they confront their traumas and missteps while trying to find their way back home from the woods. We are excited to present the exclusive debut of the first trailer.

The film is scheduled for release on August 1, as a result of a partnership between Film Fest Knox and Regal Cinemas. This collaboration allows one winner out of five nominees to receive an Oscar-qualifying run in Regal theaters. Participating cities include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, San Diego, and Denver, along with Seattle and Portland, locations close to where much of the film was shot.

Here’s the synopsis: “In the outskirts of the Oregon wilderness, two strangers cross paths when a reclusive Woodsman (Ivan Martin) stumbles upon a teenage runaway, Dani (Maddison Brown), who is hypothermic and barely aware in the woods. After rescuing Dani from the harsh conditions, The Woodsman reluctantly agrees to take her back to her grandmother. As they journey across the state, they develop an unexpected connection, exploring their backgrounds and testing their trust in each other. Ultimately, with support from one another, they summon the bravery to confront their haunting fears and find a pathway to renewal.”

"Tonally, it resembles a volume of Grimm’s fairy tales discovered in a rundown roadside motel," remarked director Kelsey Taylor. "While the film draws on the fairytale for its foundation, it remains rooted in a dark reality. I aim to capture the awe and enigma of a fairytale while keeping it anchored in a genuine world where everyone exists in shades of gray."
