Naomi Ackie is in discussions for a role in the Clayface film from DC Studios.

Having secured their title character in Tom Rhys Harries (The Return), DC Studios and director James Watkins (Speak No Evil) have reportedly found their female lead for the body horror film Clayface.

As reported by THR, Naomi Ackie, known for her roles in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody, is in discussions to join the new DC Universe in the upcoming film written by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House). Ackie has recently appeared in Blink Twice and Sorry, Baby, and will soon be featured in Netflix’s highly-anticipated adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club.

The trade indicates that the $40 million-budgeted Clayface "follows an up-and-coming actor whose face is marred by a gangster. In a desperate attempt to find a solution, the actor seeks help from a fringe scientist reminiscent of Elizabeth Holmes. Initially, the experiment proves successful, but … well, it wouldn't be a horror film if the story wrapped up so neatly, would it?"

Clayface is inspired by the iconic Batman villain and is progressing swiftly within James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, with a release date set for September 11, 2026. It will be the third feature film in the DCU following Gunn’s Superman and director Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl, which is slated to hit theaters in June of next year.

About Gary Collinson: Gary Collinson is a producer and writer in film, TV, and digital content. He is the founder of the pop culture website Flickering Myth and has produced the gothic horror feature film 'The Baby in the Basket' as well as the upcoming suspense thriller 'Death Among the Pines.'
