The revival of *Buffy the Vampire Slayer* has welcomed Kingston Vernes (Champ) to its cast, joining original star Sarah Michelle Gellar and newcomer Ryan Kiera Armstrong. The project has received a pilot order for Hulu and is currently in production. Armstrong portrays Nova, an introverted high school student, while Gellar returns to her iconic role as Buffy Summers, as destiny chooses a new Slayer to combat the forces of darkness.
Vernes will take on the role of Carson, a Junior Olympian and a well-liked student at New Sunnydale Academy, who becomes the object of Nova's affections and begins to notice her after a significant event. The cast will also include Faly Rakotohavana (Unprisoned), Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU), Sarah Bock (Severance), Daniel Di Tomasso (Dynasty), and Jack Cutmore-Scott (Frasier).
*Buffy the Vampire Slayer* originally premiered in 1997 and ran for seven seasons, focusing on Buffy as she navigated high school while being trained by her watcher, Giles. Together with Giles and her friends, they defended their town of Sunnyvale and the world from vampires, demons, witches, and other supernatural threats.
The revival is being developed by Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao, known for *Nomadland* and *Eternals*, from a script by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Poker Face). Zhao is also directing the pilot.
