Margot Robbie is in negotiations to appear in Tim Burton's Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman.
Warner Bros. aimed to take advantage of the billion-dollar success of Barbie by announcing that Tim Burton would direct a remake of Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman. It now seems they are looking at the film's star to play the lead role of the giant woman.
According to Variety, Margot Robbie is in early discussions to portray the towering character in another story focused on female empowerment. She is also set to produce the remake with her LuckyChap partners, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara.
Gillian Flynn, known for Gone Girl, was brought on to write the screenplay, but she has stepped away from the project after her initial draft to pursue other opportunities.
Originally released in 1958, Warner Bros.' Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman depicted the tale of a wealthy heiress whose encounter with a gigantic alien in a round spaceship leads her to grow into a giantess, further straining her already troubled marriage plagued by her unfaithful husband. The film, directed by Nathan Hertz, starred Allison Hayes, William Hudson, and Yvette Vickers.
This will mark the second remake of Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman, following a 1993 TV version directed by Christopher Guest that featured Daryl Hannah in the lead role.
Next for Robbie is Kogonada’s fantasy-romance A Big Bold Beautiful Journey alongside Colin Farrell, followed by Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic Wuthering Heights, which is scheduled to be released next February.
