The War Doctor faces issues with Cybermen in a new Doctor Who adventure set to air this December.

      This December, the Cybermen will participate in the Time War alongside the Daleks and the Time Lords in an exciting new full-cast audio drama from Big Finish titled Doctor Who: The War Doctor Rises: Cybergene. Jonathon Carley returns as the War Doctor in this thrilling three-hour adventure penned by writer Jonathan Morris.

      In The War Doctor Rises: Cybergene, the Cybermen have chosen to engage in the Time War, and it’s not just any Cybermen—they're all Cybermen from history, including the Mondasians and Telosians. Every incarnation of the cybernetic race featured in the television series is vying to emerge victorious in the Time War.

      As the conflict rages between Gallifrey and Skaro, the War Doctor finds himself on a ravaged planet, where soldiers are sustained through familiar methods. Soon, a terrifying evolution takes shape, and within a long-abandoned Cyber-tomb, the Doctor uncovers a startling truth: the ultimate Cyber-form is on its way to join the Time War. Fortunately, he will have the assistance of Nesta, a battle-tested surgeon played by Mitra Djalili, to thwart their plans and safeguard the universe.

      Writer Jonathan Morris remarked, “(Script editor) Matt Fitton asked me if I would like to create a War Doctor narrative, and I enthusiastically replied that I wanted to explore the Cybermen. What became of the Cybermen during the Time War? In my twenty-plus years with Big Finish, I’ve never crafted a Cyberman story. I’ve occasionally hinted at my interest, but this time, it’s finally come to fruition. All the concepts I’ve developed over the last twenty years regarding what I could do with the Cybermen are encapsulated in this story.”
