Netflix has released the first trailer for Ballad of a Small Player, an upcoming adaptation of Lawrence Osborne’s novel directed by Edward Berger (known for All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave).
This psychological thriller features Colin Farrell as Lord Doyle, a high-stakes gambler who squanders his remaining money on the casino floors of Macau. When his past resurfaces and is pursued by a private investigator (Tilda Swinton), he receives a glimmer of hope from a casino worker (Fala Chen) harboring her own secrets. Watch the trailer below…
In Macau, Lord Doyle (Colin Farrell) is keeping a low profile, spending his days and nights gambling and drinking heavily with his dwindling funds. Faced with mounting debts, he is given a chance for redemption by the enigmatic Dao Ming (Fala Chen), a casino staff member with her own hidden truths. Just behind him is Cynthia Blithe (Tilda Swinton), a private investigator intent on confronting Doyle about his past. As Doyle seeks a way out, the pressures of reality begin to close in.
Ballad of a Small Player is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 17th, followed by its arrival on Netflix on October 29th.
