A promising psychologist and intern at Arkham Asylum in Gotham City, Harleen had the opportunity to interact closely with the Joker, an encounter that ultimately ended poorly. Harleen developed an obsession with him and, after falling deeply in love with the Clown Prince of Crime, assisted him in escaping the asylum. Her infatuation with the Joker compelled Harleen to adopt a new persona, that of Harley Quinn, the Joker’s sidekick and romantic interest—regardless of his desires.
