David Bradley reprises his role as the First Doctor in a new Doctor Who adventure by Big Finish.

      Big Finish has launched a brand-new full-cast audio adventure for the First Doctor in the Doctor Who series. David Bradley returns to portray the First Doctor in this new audio drama that transports the TARDIS crew back to medieval England.

      Titled The First Doctor Unbound: Knights of the Round TARDIS, this is the inaugural volume of a trilogy that diverges from the main Doctor Who continuity, drawing inspiration from the 1960s films featuring Peter Cushing.

      Upon their arrival in Thirteenth-Century Oxford, the Doctor and his companions encounter Simon de Montfort, a pivotal figure in the evolution of English democracy as we know it today. They also meet the esteemed Franciscan friar Roger Bacon, whom the Doctor soon realizes is a meddling member of his own alien species. Can the Doctor prevent this interfering time-traveler from disrupting British history?

      The cast includes Ewan Goddard, Matthew McQuinn, Jamie Glover, Keith Wickham, Sophie Matthew, Sulin Hasso, and David Bradley in leading roles. Joining Bradley are Claudia Grant as his granddaughter Susan, Jamie Glover as Ian, and Jemma Powell as Barbara. Keith Wickham portrays the Friar, Joseph Millson plays Simon de Montfort, Sophie Matthew is the Chamberlain, Ewan Goddard takes on the role of Miles, Robert Gill plays Henry III, Adam Howden is the Baron, and Mathew McQuinn portrays Robert Greene.

      David Bradley remarked: “It can be challenging to create a mental image with just your voice, but it’s easy when the story is as vibrant and well-written as these in this series. In fact, when I first began working on these, I wondered where they found such old scripts, as they felt true to that era, and I didn’t realize they had been specially crafted in that style!”

      The First Doctor Unbound: Knights of the Round TARDIS is currently available for £12.99 as a download, or £16.99 for the download along with a limited Collector’s Edition 2-disc box set. The second and third installments of The First Doctor Unbound are scheduled for release on January 26 and May 27, and are available for pre-order now.
