Robin Hood will return to television this November as MGM+ unveils a new adaptation of the legendary English folk hero. The streamer has released a teaser for the upcoming series, featuring Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) as the formidable Sheriff of Nottingham, alongside Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) portraying Eleanor of Aquitaine.
The ten-episode series stars newcomer Jack Patten in the titular role of Robin ‘Rob’ Hood, with Lauren McQueen as Marian, Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, Marcus Fraser as Little John, Anghus Castle-Doughty as Friar Tuck, and Henry Rowley as Will Scarlet. This version of Robin Hood infuses a modern vibe into the timeless story of the notorious outlaw who took from the wealthy to aid the less fortunate, while also exploring the epic romance between him and the bold Marian. It presents a clever, sweeping romantic adventure that emphasizes historical accuracy, psychological complexity, and a deeper focus on the bond between Rob and Marian. Set after the Norman conquest of England, Rob – the son of a Saxon forester – and Marian, the offspring of a Norman lord, fall in love and join forces to fight for justice and freedom. As Rob emerges as the leader of a group of rebel outlaws, Marian secretly navigates the court's power dynamics, both striving to combat royal corruption and restore peace to the realm.
