The sequel to Superman, titled Man of Tomorrow, is set to be released in 2027.
Following the successful release of Superman this summer, which received rave reviews from both audiences and critics, Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that writer/director James Gunn will direct the sequel, titled Man of Tomorrow, set for release in 2027.
David Corenswet will reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman, and it is expected that Nicholas Hoult will return as his nemesis Lex Luthor. Gunn shared a post on social media featuring a drawing by DC artist Jim Lee, depicting Corenswet’s Superman alongside Luthor, who is seen wearing his battle armor that he typically dons during face-offs with Superman and other heroes. The sequel is slated for a July 9, 2027 release.
Gunn has hinted that the upcoming film will explore the "Super-Family." The next project on Gunn’s DC Studios agenda is Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock, which follows her cameo in Superman and is scheduled to release on June 26, 2026.
Currently, there are no other cast members announced, but it is reasonable to presume Rachel Brosnahan will reprise her role as Lois Lane in Man of Tomorrow, along with many of the supporting characters introduced in the first Superman film.
"Superman narrates the story of his quest to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his upbringing as Clark Kent from Smallville, Kansas. He represents truth, justice, and the American ideal, driven by human compassion in a world that often views kindness as outdated."
Written and directed by James Gunn, Superman features David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern/Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe, Terence Rosemore as Otis, and Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell as Jonathan and Martha Kent.
Man of Tomorrow is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
