In anticipation of the theatrical debut of TRON: Ares next month, it has been revealed that the first two films in Disney's sci-fi adventure series, TRON and TRON: Legacy, will be released in 4K Ultra HD on September 29th. Below are the cover artwork and additional details…
TRON has been digitally scanned and meticulously restored by The Walt Disney Film Restoration team, which addressed issues such as dirt, warping, and other flaws to guarantee outstanding image quality. This restoration was overseen by director Steven Lisberger. Meanwhile, TRON: Legacy has been remastered in High Dynamic Range from the original digital sources under the direction of Joseph Kosinski. Both films have received meticulous remastering, immersing viewers back into the digital frontier with a more engaging, vibrant, and visually stunning experience than ever before.
Originally released in 1982, TRON opened the door to a daring new realm of computer-generated marvels, captivating a generation with its innovative storytelling and groundbreaking special effects. Nearly thirty years later, TRON: Legacy broadened the narrative with stunning visuals, a state-of-the-art digital world, and a renowned electronic score by Daft Punk.
In the film, a talented video game developer (Jeff Bridges) hacks the mainframe of his former employer, getting transported into an incredible digital universe where he becomes part of the game he has created. It’s an epic adventure that everyone can enjoy! Please note that some sequences featuring flashing lights or patterns may impact photosensitive viewers.
