      Lionsgate has released the first trailer for The Housemaid, the forthcoming adaptation of Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, directed by Paul Feig (A Simple Favor).

      The thriller features Sydney Sweeney as a woman trying to escape her past, only to find herself drawn into a tantalizing game of secrets and scandal after taking a position as a live-in maid for a wealthy couple.

      The cast also includes Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins. You can watch the trailer below…

      Directed by Paul Feig, the film immerses viewers in a distorted reality where perfection is merely an illusion, and appearances can be deceiving. In her quest to flee her past, Millie (Sydney Sweeney) takes on a job as a live-in maid for the affluent Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). However, what starts off as an ideal job swiftly devolves into a perilous situation — an enticing, seductive web of secrets, scandal, and power. Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a realm of startling twists that will keep you guessing until the very end.

      The Housemaid is set to hit theaters on December 19th.
