Jimmi Simpson is set to join the third season of The Walking Dead: Dead City.

      The third season of AMC’s spin-off, The Walking Dead: Dead City, has welcomed Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) to its cast as a regular member.

      The Walking Dead: Dead City features Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprising their well-known roles as Maggie and Negan from The Walking Dead. The pair journeys to Manhattan, an area that has been isolated from the rest of the world since the outbreak, where they confront new, perilous enemies and factions, along with the undead.

      Simpson will portray a character named Dillard, but no further details about his role have been revealed. His addition to the cast follows the announcement of Aimee Garcia from Lucifer joining as another series regular. She will take on the role of Renata, described as “a disarmingly charming leader with an innate talent for winning people over through her optimism and friendly demeanor.”

      In the second season of Dead City, Maggie and Negan found themselves caught on opposing sides of a conflict aimed at controlling Manhattan. As their paths cross, they discover that the escape for both is more complex and distressing than they had anticipated.

      Even though the main series of The Walking Dead concluded after 11 seasons in 2022, AMC continues to expand the franchise, as the third season of Daryl Dixon premiered earlier this month, with a fourth season already announced to be the last. Last year also brought the miniseries The Ones Who Live, marking Andrew Lincoln’s return as Rick Grimes after his exit from the show in Season 9.

      Currently, The Walking Dead: Dead City is filming its third season in Boston.
