The Simpsons will return to theaters in 2027 with The Simpsons Movie 2.

      The Simpson family is returning to cinema. The Simpsons Movie 2 is set to debut just in time for the 20th anniversary of their first film in 2027.

      The Simpsons holds the record for the longest-running television show, now spanning 37 seasons, with its most recent season premiering just last night. The series depicts the lives and adventures of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson, along with the residents of Springfield. It is widely regarded as one of the most beloved animated series ever, especially for its early seasons, which received multiple awards. Among the classic favorites are ‘The Springfield Files,’ ‘Marge vs. The Monorail,’ ‘Homer’s Enemy,’ ‘Cape Feare,’ and ‘You Only Move Twice.’

      A sequel has been hinted at since the release of The Simpsons Movie in 2007, but it has been delayed due to the extensive work involved in producing the film while simultaneously airing new episodes of The Simpsons. Today, 20th Century Fox confirmed the sequel by unveiling a teaser poster and announcing a release date of July 23, 2027, on Instagram.

      The Simpsons was created by Matt Groening and features the voices of Dan Castellaneta as Homer, Julie Kavner as Marge, Nancy Cartwright as Bart, Yeardley Smith as Lisa, along with Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer voicing characters such as Moe, Mr. Burns, Chief Wiggum, Ned Flanders, and many others. It is expected that they will reprise their iconic roles for the film, as The Simpsons is scheduled to continue at least until Season 40.
