Amazon MGM Studios has announced the development of Murder in the Dark, a new mystery thriller inspired by the works of Danish author Dan Turèll. The series will feature musician and actor Michael Falch, who will reprise his role from the 1986 film adaptation of the same title. Prime Video has released the first image of Falch on set, which can be seen here…

Murder in the Dark centers around “a retired, hardened journalist (Falch) and his daughter Sophie, an ambitious police detective. The two are compelled to collaborate in order to unravel a series of mysterious murders. Their partnership begins after a well-known lawyer is brutally murdered, shortly after he agrees to disclose secrets from his criminal past in a tell-all book that Falch was set to write.”

Murder in the Dark will consist of four episodes, which Prime Video describes as “a fast-paced crime series infused with dark humor, featuring an array of eccentric characters from various generations and social classes.” Amazon MGM and SAM Productions will produce it, with Christian E. Christiansen directing from a script he co-authored with Jesper Fink.

Alongside Falch, the cast will include Alex Høgh Andersen (Vikings), Katinka Lærke Petersen (Elsker dig for tiden), Sofie Torp (Carmen Curlers), Lisbeth Wulff (Borgen), Kristian Halken (Rom), Alexandre Willaume (Tomb Raider), Clint Ruben (Graverne), and Benedikte Hansen (Badehotellet).

Murder in the Dark is currently being filmed in Copenhagen.
