Comic Book Review – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Journeys #2

Andrew Newton provides a review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Journeys #2. Following the Turtles' confrontation with the Madhatten Maulitia in the first issue, this sequel delves deeper into the complex and unpredictable landscape of Volume 4’s reprinted narrative, bringing even more strangeness to our heroes in a half shell.

Mikey finds himself in an odd, unfamiliar setting populated by various peculiar inhabitants and encounters a familiar face that offers some much-needed solace, though it also raises new questions. Simultaneously, Donatello makes what seems to be an extraordinary find, only to discover something far more twisted and horrifying. This unsettling revelation forces him, Raphael, and Casey into a chaotic clean-up task that is both messy and enigmatic.

In a slight diversion, a hint of romance for Shadow provides a measure of relief amidst the otherwise grim atmosphere of the issue. Nevertheless, while their hearts might be lifting, ominous clouds are gathering, particularly in space, where something unsettling is developing.

Consistent with the first issue, this installment maintains the gritty aesthetic that distinguishes Volume 4. The artwork employs a dark palette, rendering New York with a bleak and hostile ambiance, starkly contrasting with the brighter, cleaner depiction in the contemporary Nickelodeon series. In this world, danger feels tangible, and the characters have endured years of turmoil and transformation.

The narrative shifts between Mikey’s extraterrestrial experiences, Don’s underground discovery, and the quieter moments with Shadow, all contributing to a larger, intricately unfolding storyline.

Journeys #2 continues to shine a light on this often underappreciated chapter in TMNT lore. The robust character development and unique visual style make this series essential reading for fans looking for a more serious and gritty interpretation.

Rating – The darker revelations in this issue merit an 8/10.

"Gavagai," a fictitious term introduced by philosopher Willard Van Orman Quine, examines the translation of a word—or, in the context of this film, the translation of a situation—that can be interpreted in various ways by the different characters involved. Michael Mann's Heat 2 has been picked up by Amazon MGM, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Driver touted as potential cast members. While it seemed likely that Michael Mann's Heat 2 would not progress due to a lack of news, today's significant update reveals that the sequel––inspired by the 2022 novel co-written by the director and Meg Gardiner––has been picked up by Amazon MGM Studios through United Artists, after budget disagreements with Warner Bros., with Jerry Bruckheimer and Scott Stuber involved. I’ll admit it: I truly appreciate the effects Botox has on my skin. It smooths out my fine lines and wrinkles, brightens my hooded eyes, and gives my skin a wonderful glow. However, the cost and the need for frequent Botox appointments? My finances don’t appreciate that as much. As a result, I’ve been attempting to extend the time between my appointments. When I attended the launch of Medik8's Liquid Peptides Advanced MP Serum (formerly £79, now £63) in January, I learned about the science behind this serum, which can be used to help maintain results between Botox treatments. Naturally, a serum can never exactly replicate Botox effects (and any brand suggesting that is simply not truthful). Nevertheless, I’ve been consistently using this serum for the past six months, and during that time, my forehead lines and crow’s feet have softened enough that I didn’t feel the need to schedule my Botox again.

I’ve just finished my serum, but luckily, I noticed it on sale for Amazon Prime Day today, so I’m taking it as a sign to stock up. Read on for my honest review of the serum.

**Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced MP Serum**

**Pros**
- Helps to soften fine lines and wrinkles
- Works alongside injectables to extend Botox results

**Cons**
- It won’t provide the same lift as Botox
- It’s on the pricier side at full price

**How Does It Work?**

This is not an ordinary serum. It features a biotech innovation known as MiniProteins—a blend of peptides and proteins, as well as growth factors, hyaluronic acid, and prebiotics—that penetrate deep into the skin and activate the cells responsible for firmness and smoothness. The clever aspect is their small size and structure, allowing them to fit into skin cell receptors like a key fits into a lock, maximizing results where they’re needed most (like dynamic lines around the forehead and eyes). What I appreciate is the immediate effect, with expression lines softening upon application, followed by long-term results through the visible reduction of deep-set wrinkles; Medik8 has shown that improvements can be seen in eight weeks, with 86% of testers agreeing no new lines or wrinkles appeared while using the serum. The serum also has a gel-like texture that dries to a soft, velvety finish, making it ideal for use under makeup in your morning skincare routine while providing ample hydration for evening use.

**My Verdict**

No serum or skincare product can lift facial features like Botox can; however, if fine lines and wrinkles are your main concern, this serum is an excellent option for softening dynamic lines around the eyes from smiling or on the forehead from raising our brows. I’ve noticed a visible difference in the persistent lines on my forehead when I haven’t had Botox for a while, and the finer lines around my eyes are noticeably softer as well. Medik8 is one of the skincare brands I completely trust—in addition to this serum, the C-Tetra Advanced 20% Vitamin C is my favorite vitamin C serum from the line, while the Crystal Retinal Serum is a favourite retinol serum among the Who What Wear UK team. Although it may be pricier than other brands, Medik8 truly delivers on results, making it a worthwhile investment for your skin.
