Both editions pay tribute to the original models, using the M240i and M2 as their bases. They will be available through a charity auction, with only 33 units of each model being produced, exclusively for the South African market.

The 325iS Homage, built on the M240i xDrive, includes dual rear spoilers and 20-inch M Performance wheels designed with a retro flair. Additional features of the coupe consist of a front splitter and contrasting black door handles reminiscent of the original design, alongside the M Sport Pro package and an M Performance exhaust.

Inside, drivers will find M Sport seats adorned with contrast stitching and an armrest covered in Überkaro tartan upholstery, the same design as seen in various sporty E30 models like the 318iS, 320iS, and the 325iS. A commemorative plaque adds to the special features, inscribed with “Born for the track” and “Specially crafted for South Africa.”

The powertrain is provided by a familiar 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine generating 382 hp (285 kW / 387 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, allowing the coupe to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 4.3 seconds.

The 333i Homage, built upon the M2, presents a more aggressive design with retro-inspired graphics and 20-inch wheels from Alpina, as well as a carbon fiber splitter and spoiler, complemented by a four-tailpipe M Performance exhaust. Buyers can select from five color options: Alpine White, Sapphire Black, Brooklyn Grey, Zandvoort Blue, and Fire Red.

The interior mirrors that of the 325iS Homage with a similar armrest and a slightly different plaque, but the 333i goes further with the addition of carbon fiber bucket seats. It features a more powerful 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine, producing 473 hp (353 kW / 480 PS) and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque, enabling the rear-wheel-drive sports car to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in just four seconds.

These vehicles commemorate the original 325iS and 333i, which are described as “products of BMW South Africa’s unique autonomy during the 1980s and 1990s, a time when local engineers worked with a near skunkworks-like approach.” The 325iS was designed to meet Group N racing standards, while the 333i was developed to fill the void left by the absence of the first-generation M3 in South Africa.

The cars will be auctioned off, with interested buyers able to register now. Proceeds will go to one of five chosen charities selected by the bidders. Buyers will also agree not to sell or transfer the vehicle for a minimum of one year. The auction begins on October 21, starting bids are set at R1,435,000 ($83,413) for the 325iS Homage and R1,960,000 ($113,930) for the 333i Homage.
