Atari reveals the retro gaming console, Intellivision Sprint.
To commemorate the 45th anniversary of Intellivision, Atari has unveiled the Intellivision Sprint, a new console featuring 45 classic games from the original system's era, alongside numerous technical enhancements. Pre-orders for the Intellivision Sprint are now open, and it is scheduled to be released this December. Check out the new announcement trailer below for more details.
In 1980, the launch of the Intellivision initiated the First Console War against the Atari 2600. Although this rivalry didn't reach the same magnitude as the later Commodore 64 vs ZX Spectrum conflict, particularly in the UK, it remains a memorable competition for many longtime gamers.
In partnership with PLAION REPLAI, Atari will introduce the Intellivision Sprint this December, designed with the classic gold and black aesthetics and a wood grain finish reminiscent of the original.
The Intellivision Sprint features contemporary amenities that gamers will value, such as two wireless controllers, HDMI output, game-specific controller overlays, and a USB-A port for library expansion. Most notably, it will include 45 games, highlighting classics like Star Strike, Thunder Castle, Shark! Shark!, Thin Ice, and Boulder Dash.
The complete list of games included with the Intellivision Sprint is as follows:
