A new series of Prison Break is in the works at Hulu, featuring Emily Browning as the lead.

      It's time to escape once more, as a brand new series of Prison Break is in the works at Hulu. This upcoming series, created by Elgin James (Mayans M.C.), is set in the same universe as the original but will introduce a fresh cast of characters.

      The revival of Prison Break was greenlit by Hulu after James penned and directed a pilot during the summer. The narrative will center on “a soldier-turned-corrections officer who takes a position at one of America's most dangerous prisons to demonstrate the lengths she will go for someone she loves.”

      The cast includes Emily Browning (American Gods) as Cassidy, Drake Rodger (Last Known Backup) as Tommy, Lukas Gage (The White Lotus) as Jackson, Clayton Cardenas (Mayans M.C.) as Michael “Ghost,” JR Bourne (Mayans M.C.) as Junior, Georgie Flores (Kappa Kappa Die) as Andrea, and Myles Bullock (White Men Can’t Jump) as Darius “Red.”

      The supporting cast features Priscilla Delgado (Julieta), Ray McKinnon (The Continental: From The World of John Wick), Margo Martindale (The Sticky), Donal Logue (Gotham), Lili Taylor (Outer Range), and Sylvester Powell (All American: Homecoming).

      The original Prison Break debuted in 2005, starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. Lincoln was sentenced to death for the murder of the Vice President’s brother, but Michael believed him to be innocent and orchestrated an elaborate scheme to get himself incarcerated and help break both of them out, while attempting to unveil a substantial government conspiracy.

      Prison Break wrapped up in 2009 after four seasons and a TV movie titled Prison Break: The Final Break. This isn't the first time the Prison Break franchise has expanded, as the crime drama Breakout Kings was loosely affiliated with the original series. In 2015, Prison Break also returned for a sequel series featuring many of the original cast members. Currently, none of the original actors are set to appear in the new series, but if it proves successful, it could pave the way for the return of characters like Michael, Lincoln, or other familiar faces.
