A film and animated series based on "Something is Killing the Children" are currently in development at Blumhouse.

      Blumhouse has revealed that it has obtained the screen rights to the highly regarded comic book series Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion and Werther Dell’Edera. The studio is working on both a live-action feature film and an adult animated series adaptation of the Boom! Studios comic.

      Since its launch in 2019, which has led to over 5 million copies sold, Something is Killing the Children is set in a world where children can perceive monsters that adults cannot. The story follows Erica Slaughter, a monster hunter associated with a secretive organization that prioritizes concealing the existence of monsters from the public over rescuing their victims.

      Tynion will act as an executive producer for the animated series while also producing the feature film alongside Blum from Blumhouse. The rights to Something is Killing the Children were previously held by Netflix, where both Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) and the duo Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese (Dark) attempted to adapt the comic for the screen.
