Reseña del Episodio 6 de la Temporada 2 de Hazbin Hotel – ‘Scream Rain’
Ricky Church reviews the sixth episode of Hazbin Hotel season 2...
While it may not be as gripping as the previous episode, Hazbin Hotel’s 'Scream Rain' was enjoyable and succeeded in advancing both character development and the narrative through a few significant revelations.
Following Vox's PR success, his support and vision have reached an all-time high, allowing him to coerce and blackmail Carmine Carmella into assisting him. Throughout the episode, Christian Borle effectively portrayed Vox’s inflated ego as he belittled various Sinners, including his own team. However, we also witnessed his vulnerabilities, which Alastor exploited to drive a wedge between the Vees. A pivotal moment was revealed when Vox disclosed that he had unknowingly turned Angel Dust into a spy for weeks, showcasing Vox’s cruelty and his delight in torturing Angel, thus adding more emotional depth to Angel’s already traumatic journey.
Charlie has nearly reached her breaking point after Vaggie confronted her about her behavior all season, particularly her refusal to heed anyone's advice. It's refreshing to see her finally recognize that she has been mishandling her interactions with Vox and unfairly treating Vaggie and others. Thankfully, their conflict didn’t last too long, as they reconciled through a lively song. Although ‘Easy’ started abruptly amid Charlie’s breakdown, it makes sense that Vaggie would take drastic action to bring her back to reality. Viewers who have been following these past episodes would note Charlie’s lack of affection and intimacy as another factor driving people away. The animation during Charlie and Vaggie’s dance was exceptionally detailed, and ‘Easy’ is quite catchy, with impressive vocals from Erika Henningsen and Stephanie Beatriz.
Another highlight of ‘Scream Rain’ was the focus on Husk and Angel, characters who have been sidelined since ‘Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors’ amidst larger events. Husk’s ‘Love In A Bottle’ is an entertaining piece that explores the perils of addiction, and Keith David's smooth voice always makes for enjoyable listening. ‘Losin’ Streak’ pairs well with both ‘Love In A Bottle’ and season one’s Husk and Angel song ‘Loser, Baby’. Blake Roman did an excellent job giving Angel a sultry tone for this slower, more emotional track.
There were many humorous moments, particularly Vox's racist remark towards Valentino and his subsequent reaction to Val’s Florida comment, as well as Nifty’s group of roaches. The comedy provided a nice counterbalance to the otherwise serious and heavy scenes without diminishing their impact, creating a pleasing blend of both tones. This episode effectively sets the stage for the final two episodes of the season, with Charlie emerging from her slump and Vox finalizing his master plan.
