The December lineup of the Criterion Channel includes works by Julianne Moore, Wong Kar Wai, Joachim Trier, and others.

      The highly anticipated U.S. premiere of Wong Kar Wai’s Blossoms Shanghai isn't the only offering coming to the Criterion Channel next month. In addition to a focus on the director, there will be films featuring Julianne Moore, directed by Joachim Trier, as well as a special series on the directorial debuts of Black female directors, which includes Sambizanga, Will, Losing Ground, Daughters of the Dust, Drylongso, Compensation, and others.

      Other notable features include Bi Gan's first two films in honor of Resurrection's theatrical release, the return of Michael Koresky’s Queersighted showcasing gay cinema during the Production Code, and a series highlighting hotels in film, featuring The Palm Beach Story, What’s Up, Doc?, The Shining, Lost in Translation, New Rose Hotel, and much more.

      Wong Kar Wai expressed his excitement about Blossoms, stating, “I am delighted to continue my long-standing collaboration with Criterion with the North American debut of my inaugural series on the Criterion Channel. The series reflects the vibrant era of Shanghai’s booming ’90s and uncovers universal insights into desire and destiny. Our hope is that the series offers a glimpse into this transformative period of China’s evolution.”
