Exclusive U.S. Trailer for Johnny Ma's The Mother and the Bear, Supported by Pablo Larraín
World premiering in the Centrepiece Section at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, Johnny Ma’s comedic drama The Mother and the Bear features Kim Ho-jung, Won-Jae Lee, Jonathn Kim, and Amara Pedroso in a story about a mother who interferes in her comatose daughter’s life during a visit to Winnipeg. As Dekanalog prepares to release the film starting January 2 at NYC’s IFC Center, we are excited to exclusively unveil the new trailer and poster, which is executive produced by Pablo Larraín.
Here’s the synopsis: “After 26-year-old Sumi has an accident on the icy streets of Winnipeg, her overbearing mother Sara (Kim Ho-jung) comes from Seoul to be at her daughter’s side, who is now in a coma. Eager to ensure Sumi has someone to care for her upon waking, Sara decides to find a suitable (preferably Korean) husband through a dating app before her daughter regains consciousness. However, as Sara becomes involved in Sumi’s life through the app, she embarks on a transformative journey.”
