Martin Scorsese and the creators of Billions are working on a casino drama for Netflix.

      Martin Scorsese is heading back to Las Vegas for a Netflix series that he is collaborating on with Brian Koppelman and David Levien, the creators of *Billions*. The series, which does not yet have a title, is set in contemporary Vegas and centers around the influence of its renowned casinos and the individuals involved.

      Koppelman and Levien will act as showrunners, with Scorsese taking on the role of executive producer. Netflix has ordered eight episodes of the series, which explores the high-stakes, cutthroat world of today's Las Vegas casino industry—the modern yet still perilous iteration of the iconic city. The storyline follows Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, the president of the most popular hotel casino in the area, who needs to make bold moves to secure his standing and gain more territory.

      Scorsese is well-known for his 1995 film *Casino*, which starred Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone. However, this new series will not be a continuation or reboot of that film. Instead, Scorsese, along with his collaborators Julia Yorn and Rick Yorn, initially proposed the concept for a period piece set in Vegas. Later, Koppelman and Levien joined the project, and it was adapted to take place in the present day.

      Scorsese has previously teamed up with the *Billions* co-creators on HBO’s short-lived series *Vinyl*. Koppelman and Levien will also serve as showrunners and executive producers alongside Paul Schiff through Best Available, while fellow *Billions* writer Beth Schacter will co-executive produce with Kerry Orent. Scorsese will produce through his company Sikelia Productions, with the Yorns operating under Expanded Media.

      This untitled drama will represent Scorsese’s return to Netflix and the gangster genre following his 2019 crime film *The Irishman*, which featured Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
