The new trailer for Mamoru Hosoda's anime fantasy, Scarlet, has been unveiled.

      Sony Pictures Classics has released a trailer, poster, and images for writer-director Mamoru Hosoda’s upcoming anime feature, Scarlet.

      The story revolves around Scarlet, a medieval princess who finds herself in a surreal realm after suffering grave injuries during a quest to avenge her father's death. There, she meets an idealistic young man from the present day, who introduces her to the possibility of living a life without anger.

      The film features voice performances by Mana Ashida, Masaki Okada, and Kôji Yakusho. You can watch the trailer below...

      After failing in her mission and being severely injured in a surreal plane that lies between life and death, she encounters a young man from the present who helps her heal and reveals the potential for a future untainted by resentment and wrath. When she is faced once more with her father’s killer, Scarlet must confront her greatest challenge: can she transcend the cycle of hatred and discover meaning in life that goes beyond vengeance?

      Scarlet is set to hit theaters on February 13th.
