AMC is working on a series adaptation of Point Break for the small screen.

Point Break is set to make a smaller splash on television as AMC is planning to develop a series inspired by Kathryn Bigelow’s classic surfing action film. As reported by Deadline, this new chapter in the world of wave-riding and bank heists will be a scripted hour-long show penned by David Kalstein (Butterfly), taking place 35 years after the original movie and centering around a perilous heist crew connected to the Ex-Presidents gang.

The original film, written by W. Peter Iliff (Prayer of the Rollerboys), featured the late Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Lori Petty, and Gary Busey in a thrilling crime-drama following a rookie FBI agent who infiltrates a group of Southern California surfers who also engage in bank robberies.

Released in 1993, Point Break grossed $83 million worldwide, catapulted Keanu Reeves into action stardom, and has cultivated a dedicated fan base over the years. A 2015 remake directed by Ericson Core, featuring Edgar Ramirez, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Delroy Lindo, and Ray Winstone, failed at the box office, earning only $130 million from a $100 million budget.
