Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for director Kyle Balda’s upcoming mystery comedy, The Sheep Detectives.
Adapted from Leonie Swann’s novel Three Bags Full, the film features Hugh Jackman in the role of George, a shepherd who enjoys reading mystery novels to his sheep. However, when a startling event occurs on the farm, the sheep take it upon themselves to uncover the truth.
The cast includes Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, Emma Thompson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, and Rhys Darby. You can watch the trailer below.
In this clever, new twist on the mystery genre, George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective stories to his cherished sheep each night, believing they cannot comprehend the tales. But when a puzzling incident shakes the farm, the sheep understand they need to act as detectives. As they track down clues and investigate human suspects, they demonstrate that even sheep can be exceptional crime-solvers.
The Sheep Detectives will be released in theaters on May 8th.
