Initial glimpse of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the Man on Fire series.

      Netflix has unveiled the first image from its series Man on Fire, featuring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman) in the role of John Creasy for this action thriller. Check it out below…

      Man on Fire is adapted from A.J. Quinnell's book series, incorporating the first two novels, Man on Fire and The Perfect Kill, into an eight-episode season. The storyline revolves around Abdul-Mateen's character, John Creasy, “a highly skilled Special Forces mercenary, recognized for his ability to endure even the direst of circumstances. When the audience meets Creasy, he is struggling with severe PTSD. Committed to conquering his internal battles, he embarks on a journey toward redemption. However, before he can settle into this new phase of life, he finds himself drawn back into danger, fighting harder than ever.”

      Joining Abdul-Mateen in the cast are Billie Boullet (A Small Light), Bobby Cannavale (MaxXxin), Alice Braga (Dark Matter), Scoot McNairy (A Complete Unknown), and Paul Ben-Victor (The Wire). The series is created by Kyle Kinnen (Fear Street), who will take on the roles of showrunner, writer, and executive producer.

      Man on Fire has previously been adapted for film twice: first in 1987 with Scott Glenn portraying Christian Creasy, directed by Élie Chouraqui, and again in 2004 featuring Denzel Washington as John Creasy under director Tony Scott. The latter adaptation is frequently regarded as one of Washington’s finest performances.
