The Wizard of Oz receives a sinister horror reinterpretation in the trailer for Gale: Yellow Brick Road.
Chilling Films and Fathom Entertainment have unveiled a trailer for Gale: Yellow Brick Road, a warped reinterpretation of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, directed by Daniel Alexander.
This fantasy horror narrative centers on Emily, Dorothy's granddaughter, who discovers she has inherited the family curse her mother believed was left behind. She is drawn into a world that no one thought was real, a place that has transformed from the wonder her grandmother experienced into a land filled with distorted remnants, dominated by madness and terror. Emily embarks on a quest to uncover the truths about Oz.
The cast features Chloë Crump, Karen Swan, Laura Kay Bailey, Sarah Feltham, and Hariet Isidor. You can view the trailer below.
Years after her journey to Oz, Dorothy Gale is now an elderly woman tormented by memories of a world doubted by many—a place that has darkened over time. Echoes of that land still invade her dreams, and its nightmares are bleeding into reality, endangering everything she cherishes. Emily, her granddaughter, is burdened by the curse linked to her family's legacy. Compelled by unanswered questions and unexplainable visions, Emily is drawn into the remnants of a realm that was once magical, now fallen into ruin and insanity. Here, she meets distorted versions of familiar characters and realizes the boundary separating past from present, dreams from reality, has been broken. To escape, Emily must face the horrors that overcame Dorothy and uncover the truth about Oz—and what truly awaits at the end of the yellow brick road.
Gale: Yellow Brick Road will be in theaters for one night only on February 11th.
