The live-action adaptation of Tangled has cast Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn.

      Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation has secured its leading actors. The studio has selected Teagan Croft (Titans) and Milo Manheim (Thanksgiving) to portray Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in the forthcoming Tangled film.

      Originally released in 2010, Tangled reinvigorated Disney’s animated films centered on fairy tale princesses. The story follows Rapunzel, a princess with long magical hair, who is confined to a tower for most of her life until she eventually escapes. In this retelling, she is kidnapped as an infant and raised by her ‘mother’ Gothel in a secluded tower, where Rapunzel’s magical hair keeps Gothel youthful. After encountering the charming thief Flynn Rider, she compels him to take her to the kingdom to witness the floating lights that appear in the sky every birthday. This journey leads her to uncover her hidden past and take control of her destiny.

      Directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, the original film featured Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Flynn. It became immensely popular, particularly for its music, thanks to Disney legend Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater who crafted the beloved songs. Rapunzel’s tale was further explored in the short Tangled Ever After and the animated series Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventures, with Moore and Levi reprising their roles.

      The live-action Tangled will be helmed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman), based on a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge). Although Scarlett Johannson was previously announced to portray Mother Gothel, she has recently had to withdraw from the role due to an undisclosed part in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II, which is set to begin filming in the spring, indicating a potential scheduling conflict as she likely had to choose between the two projects.

      Croft is widely recognized for her role as Raven in the DC series Titans, while Manheim has appeared in Disney Channel's Zombies films.
