Auberi Edler, a French filmmaker who won the Best Directing Award at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and received recognition at Hot Docs and other festivals, presents An American Pastoral. This documentary delves into the community of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, examining the political divide tied to significant decisions in its public school system. We are excited to exclusively release the first trailer ahead of the film's digital release on February 13 by Film Movement.

Here is the synopsis: “In a serene Pennsylvania town, tensions are rising regarding the essence of its public schools. What starts as a discussion about library books uncovers a deeper struggle — one centered on religion, democracy, and the future of education in America. Situated in Elizabethtown, within Lancaster County, AN AMERICAN PASTORAL captures a contentious local school board election that becomes a focal point in a national culture clash. As far-right activists promote a theocratic agenda and established public officials resign under pressure, the town’s previously mundane school board meetings turn into battlegrounds of conflict and division.”
