Tinker Bell will be part of a live-action series called Tink on Disney+.
Disney's beloved fairy Tinker Bell is set to star in her own live-action series on Disney+, titled Tink. This drama will explore different phases of Tinker Bell's life, although it remains unclear whether the story unfolds before or after Peter Pan, where she meets Wendy Darling and her siblings, leading to encounters with Captain Hook.
The series is the work of Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter, who first collaborated on Friday Night Lights. Heldens is currently co-showrunning Hulu’s Will Trent, while Carpenter developed the adaptation of Stephen King’s 11.22.63, which follows a man attempting to avert President JFK’s assassination through time travel.
Tinker Bell has been a significant figure for Disney since the studio adapted J.M. Barrie’s classic children's book into its 1953 animated feature. She is a popular character and has featured in various Disney projects, including live-action portrayals by Julia Roberts in Hook, Ludivine Sagnier in Peter Pan, Rose McIver in Once Upon A Time, and Yara Shahidi in Peter Pan & Wendy.
Mae Whitman voiced Tinker Bell in Disney’s animated film series, which spans five movies and chronicles the fairy's origins and adventures long before Peter Pan arrives in Neverland. Heldens and Carpenter are set to write and executive produce the series, alongside Quinn Haberman from Heldens’ production company, Selfish Mermaid. Additionally, former Disney Television CCO Gary Marsh will serve as an executive producer for 20th Century.
