In anticipation of its April release, a trailer has been released online for director Pawel Maslona’s historical action drama, Scarborn (Kos).
Set in 18th century Poland, this film tells the story of Ignac, a young serf who is illiterate and finds himself unexpectedly involved in a rebellion led by General Tadeusz “Kos” Kościuszko, all while trying to demonstrate his noble lineage.
The cast includes Bartosz Bielenia, Jacek Braciak, Jason Mitchell, Robert Więckiewicz, Andrzej Seweryn, Piotr Pacek, and Agnieszka Grochowska. You can watch the trailer below.
In the spring of 1794, Poland is in chaos. “Kos” returns home with plans to incite an uprising against the Russians by rallying both the Polish nobility and peasants. He is accompanied by Domingo, his loyal friend and former slave, portrayed by award-winning American actor Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton, Mudbound). Meanwhile, a merciless Russian captain named Dunin, played by Robert Więckiewicz, is on a mission to capture Kościuszko before he can ignite a nationwide rebellion.
At the same time, a young peasant named Ignac, portrayed by Bartosz Bielenia, who is the illegitimate son of a nobleman, dreams of inheriting a coat of arms and property from his father, Duchnowski (Andrzej Seweryn), who has included him in his will just before passing away. Upon his father's death, Ignac must escape from his half-brother Stanisław (Piotr Pacek), who intends to thwart the will's execution. Ignac steals the will and has only two days to present himself in court to establish his claim to nobility. During his flight, he encounters Domingo, and despite the language barrier, they form a strong bond. They eventually arrive at the Colonel’s Wife's manor (Agnieszka Grochowska), where Kościuszko is hiding as he awaits discussions with the magnates.
Suspicious of Ignac, Kos initially holds him captive, but when the moment of truth arrives, the outcome of the uprising may depend on the seemingly unremarkable Ignac, who must decide whether to pursue his noble aspirations or ally with “Kos” to fight for a greater cause.
Scarborn (Kos) is scheduled to be released on April 27th.
