Watch as Brady Corbet directs Robert Pattinson in a commercial set in 1664, filmed by Lol Crawley.
After starting his feature directing career with Robert Pattinson in The Childhood of a Leader, Brady Corbet has reunited with the actor. In the interim between his projects The Brutalist and the upcoming X-rated, era-spanning drama, Corbet has found a way to support himself by directing Pattinson in a new advertising campaign for 1664 Blanc, the French beer brand, featuring cinematography by his frequent collaborator Lol Crawley.
In the advertisement, Pattinson portrays three different characters: “a modern minimalist, an avant-garde artist, and an eccentric older ‘dandy,’” according to the official description. “Each character is utterly convinced they epitomize good taste. As their worlds intertwine and their confidence grows, the tension escalates – until one shared truth surfaces: 1664 is Unquestionably Good Taste.”
Pattinson remarks, “Collaborating with 1664 has been invigorating due to the strong sense of style and humor in the work. I was attracted to the concept of embodying characters who are each completely certain they are correct. Taste is such a personal matter – everyone believes they’ve mastered it. The enjoyment of the film lies in observing that confidence unravel and examining just how subjective Good Taste truly is.”
Corbet adds, “It was a delight to spend a few days creating this film for the fantastic team at 1664 with my long-time partners Robert Pattinson and Lol Crawley, alongside my wonderful team at Magna.”
The campaign launches just before the release of Pattinson’s latest films, Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama, for which our review can be found here, and the ads can be viewed below.
