12 Films Featuring Characters Dressed as Bunnies
As we put on our bunny costumes for Easter, let’s look at 10 films featuring characters in bunny outfits.
As we adorn ourselves with ears and fluffy tails while filling our baskets with treats, it's a good time to reflect on these memorable movie bunny suits.
Some of these films are fantastic, while others are not as impressive. Regardless, each includes bunny costumes.
Legally Blonde (2001)
MGM
We’ll kick off with one of the finest films featuring a bunny costume.
Legally Blonde, essentially a flawless comedy, features Reese Witherspoon as a law student who is frequently underestimated.
When she arrives at a party smartly dressed in a bunny suit, her terrible boyfriend tells her he doesn’t think she’s very bright and advises her to focus on her other attributes.
“I’ll show you how valuable Elle Woods can be,” she declares, storming off with her ears flapping.
She ultimately proves everyone wrong.
Night of the Lepus (1972)

Night of the Lepus is one of the most entertaining films we’ve seen, though perhaps not for the reasons the creators intended.
This sci-fi movie tells the story of a desert town overrun by giant killer rabbits, aiming to scare audiences in two ways: with actors in bunny costumes and real rabbits, their adorable faces smeared with ketchup, hopping around miniature sets.
It features a solid cast, including Star Trek veteran DeForest Kelley and Psycho star Janet Leigh. However, Leigh later remarked to Starlog:
“How can you make a bunny rabbit menacing?”
The House Bunny (2008)
Sony
Another tale of an underappreciated young woman, The House Bunny has Anna Faris playing Shelley Darlingson, who ages out of the playboy bunny lifestyle upon turning 27.
A character tells her that’s “59 in bunny years.”
Before long, she becomes the house mother of a sorority and aids in transforming her younger charges, which include Emma Stone.
The Man With Two Brains (1983)
Warner Bros.
In the absurd Steve Martin comedy The Man With Two Brains, Martin's brain surgeon character, Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr, walks down a hospital corridor in scrubs when he catches sight of himself in a mirror.
He realizes he’s sporting bunny ears.
With no explanation, he yanks them off and tosses them at a colleague.
“I don’t find this amusing, Guerrero!” he exclaims. The film continues from there.
Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001)
Miramax
One of the most hilarious moments in the equally funny Bridget Jones’ Diary occurs when Bridget (Renée Zellweger) arrives at an upscale garden party she believes is a costume affair.
Naturally, she’s dressed in the most unsuitable outfit: a bunny costume.
Nevertheless, she manages the situation with surprising grace, even sneaking a smoke with a local clergyman.
Donnie Darko (2001)

Easily the most frightening film on this list.
In Donnie Darko, Jake Gyllenhaal’s potentially schizophrenic, or possibly prophetic protagonist is haunted by a character in a bunny suit named Frank.
“Why are you wearing that stupid bunny suit?” Donnie asks Frank.
Frank replies softly: “Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?”
Mean Girls (2004)
Paramount
In a charming twist on the Bridget Jones bunny costume mix-up, the Plastics (played by Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried) don animal costumes for Halloween. Their leader, Regina George, ends up in the bunny outfit.
However, Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) misses the memo that Halloween is a day for whimsical attire, choosing instead the most grotesque fright mask she can find.
To add insult to injury, Regina later kisses the boy Cady likes.
The film is also proudly featured in our list of 12 Movies With People Dressed as Cats.
The Bunnyman (2012)

Less frightening than Frank, the Bunnyman is the main antagonist in the 2011 horror film inspired by Virginia’s urban legend, the Bunny Man.
Oh, you haven’t heard of the Bunny Man? He’s a man in a bunny costume who chases after people with an axe. In the movie, he wields a chainsaw instead.
If the chainsaw-wielding bunny doesn’t scare you, consider this: The Bunnyman consumes people instead of carrots.
A Christmas Story (1983)
MGM – Credit: MGM
Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) faces many humiliating moments in A Christmas Story, but none compare to wearing bunny pajamas, a Christmas present from his Aunt Clara.
To make matters worse, it’s not just any bunny suit; it features two little bunnies for feet.
