12 Films Featuring Characters in Bunny Costumes
As we all put on our bunny outfits for Easter, here are 10 films featuring characters dressed as bunnies.
During this festive time when we’re all wearing our ears and fuzzy tails and filling our baskets with treats, let’s reflect on these memorable movie bunny costumes.
Some films are outstanding, while others are less impressive. Yet, all include bunny attire.
**Legally Blonde (2001)**
MGM
Let's kick off with a top movie showcasing a bunny costume.
Legally Blonde, a near-perfect comedy, features Reese Witherspoon as a law student who is often underestimated.
When she arrives at a party dressed stylishly in a bunny suit, her awful boyfriend tells her he doesn’t consider her particularly intelligent and encourages her to embrace her other qualities.
"I’ll show you how valuable Elle Woods can be," she asserts, storming off with her ears bouncing.
She sets out to prove everyone wrong.
**Night of the Lepus (1972)**

Night of the Lepus is one of the most enjoyable films we've ever encountered, even if not for the reasons the creators had hoped.
This sci-fi movie depicts a desert town overrun by enormous killer rabbits, aiming to frighten viewers in two ways: with people in bunny costumes and with real bunnies adorned with ketchup on their sweet faces, hopping around miniature sets.
It features a notable cast, including Star Trek's DeForest Kelley and Janet Leigh from Psycho. However, Leigh later shared her thoughts with Starlog:
"How can you make a bunny rabbit scary?"
**The House Bunny (2008)**
Sony
In another tale of an underestimated young woman, The House Bunny stars Anna Faris as Shelley Darlingson, who is aging out of the playboy bunny scene at 27.
One character remarks that this is "59 in bunny years."
Before long, she becomes the house mother for a sorority and assists in transforming her young charges, which include Emma Stone among others.
**The Man With Two Brains (1983)**
Warner Bros.
In a memorable scene from the zany Steve Martin comedy The Man With Two Brains, Martin’s brain surgeon character, Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr, walks anxiously down a hospital hallway in scrubs and catches sight of himself in a mirror.
He realizes he’s wearing bunny ears.
Without any explanation, he hastily removes them and tosses them at a colleague, exclaiming, "I don’t find this amusing, Guerrero!" and the film moves on.
**Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001)**
Miramax
One of the most hilarious moments in the equally amusing Bridget Jones’ Diary occurs when Bridget (Renée Zellweger) arrives at a posh garden party she mistakenly believes is a costume event.
Dressed in the most inappropriate outfit imaginable—a bunny suit—she manages to handle the situation with surprising composure as she sneaks a smoke with a local pastor.
**Donnie Darko (2001)**

Easily the most unsettling film on this list.
In Donnie Darko, Jake Gyllenhaal’s possibly schizophrenic or prophetic lead character is plagued by a figure in a bunny costume named Frank.
“Why are you wearing that silly bunny suit?” Donnie inquires of Frank.
Frank replies, "Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"
**Mean Girls (2004)**
Paramount
In an amusing twist on the bunny costume mix-up from Bridget Jones, all the Plastics (portrayed by Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried) dress as animals for Halloween. Their leader, Regina George, dons the bunny costume.
However, Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) misses the memo about dressing freely on Halloween and opts for the most grotesque fright mask available.
Regina also makes a point to kiss the guy Cady likes.
This film is also featured on our list of 12 Movies With People Dressed as Cats.
**The Bunnyman (2012)**

Slightly less frightening than Frank is the Bunnyman, the villain of the 2011 horror film inspired by Virginia’s urban legend, the Bunny Man.
Unfamiliar with the Bunny Man? He’s a man in a bunny suit who chases people with an axe. In the film, he wields a chainsaw instead.
If the chainsaw-wielding bunny costume doesn’t frighten you, perhaps this fact will: The Bunnyman consumes people rather than carrots.
**A Christmas Story (1983)**

In A Christmas Story, Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) endures many humiliations, but none is more embarrassing than wearing bunny outfit
