HBO and the BBC have unveiled a trailer for "Half Man," the forthcoming drama by Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer).
This limited series narrates the tale of Niall and Ruben (portrayed by Jamie Bell and Gadd), childhood friends with a profound connection, who navigate the challenges of loss and circumstance together. However, when Ruben appears at Niall’s wedding behaving oddly, a surge of violence propels viewers into the past three decades of their lives.
Alongside Gadd and Bell, the cast includes Stuart Campbell, Mitchell Robertson, Neve McIntosh, Marianne McIvor, Charlie De Melo, Bilal Hasna, Julie Cullen, Amy Manson, Anjli Mohindra, Tim Downie, Tom Andrews, Philippine Velge, Stuart McQuarrie, Sandy Batchelor, Piers Ewart, Scot Greenan, Charlotte Blackwood, Calum Manchip, and Kate Robson-Stuart.
Niall and Ruben share a brotherly bond—not by blood, but by profound connection. One is fierce and loyal, while the other is gentle and reserved. Having grown up inseparable, they relied on each other through adversity. However, three decades later, when Ruben appears at Niall’s wedding, he is no longer the same. He appears anxious and erratic. A sudden burst of violence soon follows, thrusting us backwards through their history from the 1980s to the present. Chronicling 30 years in the lives of these fractured men, "Half Man" is a six-part limited series that examines brotherhood, violence, and the delicate nature of male relationships. After all, during times of crisis, it is often the closest bonds that suffer the most.
"Half Man" will debut on HBO Max in the US on April 23rd and on BBC iPlayer in the UK on April 24th.
