The lineup for the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight 2026 features Radu Jude, Lisandro Alonso, Kantemir Balagov, Clio Barnard, among others.

Following the announcement of the key sections of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival last week, the lineups for three sidebars have now been revealed. Notably, Directors’ Fortnight has disclosed its exciting roster, which features Kantemir Balagov’s Butterfly Jam, starring Barry Keoghan and Riley Keough, Radu Jude’s Diary of a Chambermaid, Lisandro Alonso’s Double Freedom (La libertad doble), Clio Barnard’s I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning, Dominga Sotomayor’s La Perra, among others. The best film from Sundance, William Greaves & David Greaves’ Once Upon A Time In Harlem, is also included in the lineup.

“Under the serene and pastoral lens of Alain Guiraudie, the 58th edition of Directors’ Fortnight presents 19 feature films and 9 short films as a part of our new selection,” stated Artistic Director Julien Rejl. “We will showcase works from 19 countries across five continents, with significant participation from nations that have had little or no international visibility, including Nigeria, Sudan, Guatemala, Venezuela, and Cyprus. We are thrilled about the notable presence of documentaries (3 features and 2 shorts) and animations (3 features and 2 shorts), highlighting remarkable works that exhibit the exceptional diversity and dynamism of both forms.”

He continued, “The 2026 selection includes established filmmakers, emerging talents (with 6 debut features), and directors whose artistic expressions are still evolving. We are also privileged to present a special event: the premiere of Alain Cavalier’s latest film. He was among the trailblazers who discovered new films and talents at the inception of the Fortnight. We take great pride in showcasing the final part of his filmed diary. Join us on Directors’ Fortnight’s journey across the globe!”
