      20th Century Studios has released the first trailer and a poster for the post-apocalyptic survival thriller The Dog Stars, directed by Ridley Scott, which is based on Peter Heller’s 2012 novel.

      Jacob Elordi plays Hig, a pilot mourning the death of his wife, who resides in an abandoned hangar with his dog Jasper and an eccentric ex-Marine as they struggle to survive after a virus has decimated much of the human population. However, upon receiving a mysterious radio transmission, Hig sets out in search of non-hostile survivors.

      The cast also includes Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Allison Janney. Watch the trailer below…

      “The narrative follows Hig, a pilot who survived the flu but lost his spouse. He lives with his dog and a quirky ex-Marine in an abandoned hangar, defending against wandering scavengers called Reapers. When an enigmatic radio transmission comes through, Hig starts to imagine that a better life might still exist outside the one he has managed to create.”

      The Dog Stars is set to hit theaters on August 28th.
